Our story began in 2021 in Champaign-Urbana, where two very different paths unexpectedly crossed. Marcus was working with the University of Illinois men’s basketball program, and Sarah was building her career as an accountant. From the very beginning, there was something easy and natural between them. After a delayed first meeting, they finally went out for drinks—and what was meant to be a simple night quickly turned into hours of effortless conversation, laughter, and a connection that felt immediate and undeniable. It was the kind of night you never want to end—and neither of them did. From there, their relationship grew steadily. Between busy schedules, long drives, and even time spent long-distance, they consistently chose each other. Marcus once drove hours in a single day just to take Sarah to dinner—proving early on just how special their connection was. Eventually, they built a home together, filled with shared routines, cooking nights, basketball games (especially cheering on the Houston Rockets), and walks with their dog.
