How We Met: Courtney

June 2017: Troy, Alabama

Trent and I met on a blind date in June of 2017 at Santa Fe Cattle Company in Troy, Alabama. It was the Summer before my final year at Troy University, and he was about to begin his Junior year at Auburn University Montgomery (about an hour or so up the road). I was so anxious about this blind date that I asked 3 of my trusted sorority sisters to secretly join and spy on us from a couple of booths away (in case he was a serial killer and I needed to make a safe escape, of course… shoutout to Jessi Martellaro, Leah Mangum, and Meredith Gramley... #WLFEO)! I never ended up looking for them around the restaurant, and honestly forgot that they were even there, because the date went SO well. I could have stayed in that booth talking to him forever. I invited him to come back to my townhouse to meet my roommates and some of my friends (including the ones who joined us on our 1st date, unbeknownst to him until later), and he was so considerate, inclusive, & genuinely kind them. When I walked him outside to his truck, he kissed me goodnight. I literally collapsed once I was inside the door and said, “HE KISSED ME!” Pretty sure I told all of them that I was in love, too (#thedrama)! We officially started dating on July 21st, 2017, after he met my parents for dinner at a Texas Roadhouse. He asked me to be his girlfriend while watching the Montgomery Biscuits fireworks outside of his studio apartment window in Downtown Montgomery. We’ve been inseparable ever since, with many treasured adventures, friendships, memories, obnoxious laughs, ugly cries, and a Birdie (our 2 year old longhaired miniature dachshund that we’re OBSESSED with) along the way. He truly is the best friend that I’ve EVER had, and I am so, SO thankful that God created us for each other. I’ve been ready to marry him since the day we met. February 2022 can not get here soon enough!

The Proposal: Trent

June 25th, 2021: Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

Courtney and I were set to go on a family vacation with all of the Doolittles. I figured it was a perfect time to propose, seeing that our whole family would be there. Ms. Marcy scheduled group family photos and coordinated with me at each spot. Mom and dad made the drive up to Myrtle Beach without Courtney knowing. We finally got towards the end of the photography session. I knew it was close to time and watched as my parents moved swiftly and tactically from beach chair to beach chair. I then got down on one knee and asked the girl of my dreams to marry me in front of our family. It could not have went any more smoothly thanks to Ms. Marcy, Lindsey, and my mom.
