Fate in the Making...

on 8-31-2013 it all began

Jaime's parents moved her into her dorm for her first solo adventure at Mansfield University of Pennsylvania on August 17th, 2013. After she was all unpacked, Jaime & her roommate ventured to a crowded Manser Hall for a bite to eat. They ended up at a large empty table, and soon after sitting down, 3 boys asked to join them. One was Kenneth. We chatted for awhile and by the time we were done eating, Kenneth "KC" had taken my phone and made himself a contact with the heart-eyed emoji next to his name. We parted ways and I sent him some flirty texts over the next few days. He knew I lived in the same dorm on the floor above him, so he found my door one evening and knocked. We watched the Video Music Awards together and he asked me who my favorite band was during a commercial break. Well, my favorite band is Fall Out Boy, and I was supposed to see them in concert with my 3 best friends from high school right before college started. However, my mother didn't think it was the greatest idea and wouldn't let me go. To say I was disappointed was an understatement, but life goes on. I told KC as much, and here is where Fate came into play... It turned out he & his family had tickets to see Fall Out Boy at the New York State Fair that coming Friday - a gift for his sister's birthday. On top of that, they had an extra ticket and he offered it to me. I just about cried. So, less than 2 weeks after meeting, on August 30th, 2013, we took a road trip to Syracuse with his family. We spent the day adventuring though the fair. His sister bought us matching bracelets, we sat for a caricature, we road fair rides and fed butterflies. That night we sang along with my favorite band while it absolutely down-poured. It had been a hot day, so the rain was refreshing and perfect. When we got back that night & laid down for bed, in the early hours of August 31st, 2013, he told me he loved me. The feeling was more than mutual, and the rest is history.

A promise made...

on 7-23-2014 we swore to always make it work

On a family vacation to Martha's Vineyard, after almost a year together, KC took me to the beach at night on my 19th birthday. We lit sparklers and watched the waves crash, as we discussed our past & dreamed about our future. He gifted me a beautiful promise ring (that, in the spirit of honesty, I picked out months prior and BEGGED for). I giggle about the whole ordeal now, but I can't help but absolutely adore this ring that he sacrificed all his college beer money for. I have worn it every single day since.

...A promise kept

on 6-23-2019 we got engaged

Fast forward 5 years later, another family vacation to Martha's Vineyard, KC takes me to Menemsha Beach - the best place to watch the sun set on the island. I can't say I *knew* what was coming, but my heart could just feel that something big was about to happen (and I really hoped it was a proposal). We sat right on the sand, drank from our cooler & people watched until the sun started making its way down. As I was distracted taking pictures with my phone, KC approaches a random gentleman with a fancy camera and asks him to photograph the following event... KC takes me to the water's edge and hands me a map in a bottle. Our exact location on the map is marked by a hand drawn sunset & the words, "For every wave that tides this shore, I love you more. A promise was kept on this island." He then gets down on one knee and presents a ring his late grandfather gave to his grandmother. I jumped up & down and of course said YES! Every person on this packed beach cheered for us, it was MAGICAL. Later in the week we got matching tattoos of the sunset to always remind us of that moment of true love & pure bliss. To say the least - he did GOOD. It was one of the happiest, most special moments we've shared, and I am so thankful for our love story ♡
