Zach and Kelsey connected online in October, 2021. Their initial point of connection was over the question prompt “Is a poptart a ravioli?” We will let you think on that one and reach out for our answers if you are curious. 😊 While chatting, they realized that they both grew up in Ripon, went to high school together and had several mutual friends. However, in all of that, they never knew one another until meeting online. Small world, right?! They chatted for over a month before Kelsey asked Zach on a first date. They had their first date in early November at the Federalist Pizza in Midtown, Sacramento. Time flew by as they chatted over a margherita pizza; 3 hours later, the restaurant was closing so they decided to call it a night with the promise of getting together again soon. This occurred a week later, in which another long date occurred. Several weeks of this continued and on December 4th, after a date night of dinner and driving through the Fab 40s looking at holiday lights, Zach asked Kelsey to make it official. Kelsey enthusiastically said yes and so began their relationship. Both knew pretty early on that this was going to be forever; in fact, Zach called his sister Sam after the second date and told her he was confident that Kelsey was ‘the one’. Kelsey knew in her heart around the same time that Zach was something special and told him so by saying I love you first in early January, 2022. After a year and some change together, Zach proposed to Kelsey on January 7th, 2023 in Bodega Bay, California. Bodega Bay was a significant pick, as Kelsey had told Zach about a few childhood summers camping there and how many memories she has there with her dad, camping or flying a kite on the beach. Therefore, Zach knew it would be meaningful for the proposal to happen there, and he was correct. Zach had planned the proposal down to the detail, however historic storms rolled in and ruined his plans. Regardless, they made the best of it and he proposed on a platform, overlooking the ocean, in the pouring rain. While the proposal didn’t go the way he planned, it was perfectly theirs and will always be a happy memory they share together.
