“And the two shall become one”

Regan and Mariah met on the dating app “Tinder”… shocking, they know ;) Mariah had strict standards, one of them being that “you have to be taller than me, or we can just be friends”. Regan and Mariah matched, and the first message she received from him was that he’s only 5’11”. So she responded with, “aww bummer! That’s always the case” and was ready to continue the search. Then Mariah got a message from Regan saying, “Well, if you ever feel like giving a guy an inch shy of the mark a chance, I’m here”. So the persistence peaked her interest, Regan got the first date and now here they are, 3+ years later! Getting married :)

It was a long time coming, but Regan and Mariah were finally able to take their first overseas trip together to the beautiful island of Ischia, Italy. While visiting the Cathedral of St. Andrew Apostle in Amalfi, Mariah noticed that Regan seemed a little different. Maybe nervous, but probably just really feeling the presence of God in the chapel. So she simply thought ‘he’s having a moment, it’s precious’ and they kept exploring. Little did she know, Regan had something completely different on his mind. He was waiting for the perfect moment to propose! He first thought to do it down in the crypt. He was feeling the moment, thought it was the perfect place, but his attempt was interrupted when some guests got very aggressively shushed by some angry Italians. ‘Guess that wasn’t the right moment’ Regan thought, and the touring continued. Later on, while in the prayer area, Regan decided ‘now is the time.’ He grabbed Mariah’s hands, eyes getting teary, voice a little shaky and said to her, “I love you Mariah, will you marry me?” Mariah looked at him and said “well yeah, that’s the plan…” thinking he wasn’t actually popping the question at that moment. Regan looked Mariah in the eyes and clarified… “No, will you marry me?” while pulling the ring out of his fanny pack. Mariah got teary eyed and of course, said “Yes!” They hugged and were soaking in the moment… for about 10 seconds before getting yelled at in Italian and scolded for doing that in a place where “Jesus Christ is right there!” So Mariah and Regan removed themselves from the prayer area and continued to celebrate outside the cathedral, with some cannolis and limoncello :)
