We were just 15 when our story began, two high school sophomores who had known of each other, but hadn’t truly connected. That changed one late summer evening in 2012, the night before Megan’s birthday, right after the preseason Meet the Player pep rally. She started texting Jason, not out of nowhere, but with a spark that had been waiting for the right moment. She was hoping he would stay up until midnight to wish her a happy birthday. He tried but He didn’t quite make it. He fell asleep early. But that small, almost forgettable moment cracked the door open to something bigger. We started talking more, laughing more, flirting a little and suddenly, it felt like we’d known each other forever. Something about it just worked. It was easy. Natural. Jason noticed Megan’s eyes first bright, expressive, and unforgettable. Her smile, too. Megan noticed Jason’s confidence. He had a calm, quiet strength to him. And yes, she thought he was pretty cute too. Then came the homecoming pep rally. Each football player was paired with a cheerleader for a choreographed dance. Cheerleader's choice and you guessed it! Megan picked Jason. At the end of the routine, each pair had to strike a pose. We didn’t want just any pose. We decided together that ours would be a proposal. So Jason dropped to one knee, and instead of just holding the position, he asked Megan to be his girlfriend. That was September 21st, 2012. The first yes. That moment wasn’t just the start of a relationship. It was the beginning of something rare. We grew up together. We’ve learned how to love, how to communicate, how to navigate life all with each other side by side. Especially through our late-night talks where the world fell away. We’ve shared laughter, challenges, and unforgettable adventures: Ocean City summers, freezing horse and carriage rides through Central Park, and so much more. We’ve celebrated milestones and worked through hard times, always with the understanding that we were in it together. Eventually, we packed our lives into a U-Haul and moved to Florida. No safety net. Just each other. We took a leap and kept building what we had already started. That leap turned into a life. Into a home. Into a love we’re incredibly proud of. We’ve supported each other through every dream, risk, and turning point. Florida became more than just a new location it became the space where we learned who we are as a couple in the real world. Over a decade later, Jason dropped to one knee again. This time, on Barefoot Beach under a Florida sunset, with a ring. A real proposal. A real promise. The moment felt familiar, but deeper, the grown-up version of a decision we made when we were still kids. Full circle, and then some. The second, Yes. We started with a shared pose at a pep rally. Now, we’re building a forever. We’re best friends, soulmates, soon-to-be husband and wife. Every step of our story has led us here, and we wouldn’t change a single chapter. Now, over a decade later, we’re still saying yes to each other, to forever, and to the next chapter of our story.
