Alex and I first ran into each other at Dierks Bentley’s bar in Scottsdale, Arizona while on vacation there for baseball Spring Training. As I was ordering drinks, he happened to be sitting at the bar with his friends. Alex tapped me on the shoulder and said, "Hey, I think I know you from somewhere"! I thought it was just a creative pick-up line, but… Rewind to a few weeks prior, Alex and I had matched on this dating app Hinge. Surprisingly, his charm was already on vacation (Alex will admit this), as the conversation was stale and uneventful. We briefly mentioned to each other that we were actually going to be in Scottsdale the same weekend for baseball games in a few weeks, but no plans were made to see one another. Fast forward back to Scottsdale… My friends and I decided to go to some bars (30 miles away from where we just watched the Dodgers play). Alex and I meet, where I realize we do know each other and the coincidence was just too unbelievable to take lightly. We ended up spending the entire night hanging with our friends, talking and getting to know each other. And the rest is history!
Alex was in California to visit and to attend my friends’ annual Christmas holiday party. Before the party, we had made plans to grab lunch with some friends who Alex had not seen in a while. (Little did I know he had the proposal of my dreams planned!) As we arrived at the restaurant for lunch, our friends happened to be "running late", so of course instead of waiting at the restaurant, Alex wanted to go next door to wait at a winery and have a drink. Instead of a menu, the waiter handed me a gift. While I was unwrapping a cartoon book Alex made, which listed all the reasons he loved me, he got down on his knee and asked me to marry him! It was such a magical moment… and I am not sure if I even said yes because I was crying and hugging him. To make the day even more special, he planned an engagement celebration with our closest friends, including his parents and other close family who flew in from Chicago to surprise me. It was definitely a day I will never forget.
