How We Met

10.14.2015

Sarah and Hany met the only way two millennials can meet nowadays: on the deepest, darkest, filthiest corners of the internet. Hany catfished Sarah by portraying himself online as a handsome, intelligent, and agreeably-scented man. She would eventually realize that was not the case after standing downwind from him, but at that point, it would be much too late. They lived just minutes away from each other, which was a pleasant surprise for Hany, as it made stalking Sarah much easier. In a matter of days, Hany learned more about Sarah than she knew about herself and he tricked her into a date at her favorite restaurant, Padre, a lovely Latin-fusion restaurant, conveniently located less than one block away from her apartment. At the end of a wonderful first date filled with stories, laughter, and a crying waitress, Hany "forgot his wallet". The promise to take her out again to repay her for the meal was all it took to begin a series of dates in which he would manipulate Sarah into loving him. Hany has yet to pay for a meal.

The Proposal

7.24.2017

These two love birds both knew they wanted to marry each other for quite some time. After weeks of unsubtly dropping hints that she may propose to Hany, he finally realized something was up because she asked if he wanted to go for a ride. That meant one of two things: she was going to murder him for his outstanding dinner debt, or propose, because no one in their right mind would willingly drive in L.A. rush hour traffic without an ulterior motive. So, Hany quick on his feet, PROPOSED they take a walk to the beach, hoping she does not drown him in the Pacific. What seemed like hours, was just minutes of walking hand-in-hand, mostly silent, interspersed with nervous giggling on the way to the beach. When they finally found a secluded spot along the shore of the beach they called home, Sarah pulled something from her pocket. Hany, scared for his life, immediately tried running away, only to run out of breath after three steps. Sarah easily caught up and revealed a heartfelt letter professing her love to the man no other woman could tame. The last line of the beautifully crafted note that was thoughtful, sincere, and romantic, was THE question, "Will you marry me?". To this day, Hany still has not responded. But one proposal was not enough! Hany felt so emasculated, he had to propose to Sarah in front of their families and his friends in his hometown of DeKalb, IL to show the whole world he was in fact a man. Hany asked permission from the father and mother of the bride-to-be, and after much deliberation and convincing, they conceded. And they celebrated. Cheers!
