Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Emily Looby and Hans Riemer
Our venue is located in the northeast corner (the "Quiet Corner") of Connecticut. There is the historic seacoast to the south, plentiful micro-breweries, and other attractions within an hour of the farm!
Old Sturbridge Village

Old Sturbridge Village

1 Old Sturbridge Village Road, Sturbridge, MA 01566

Did you know? Emily worked here as an interpreter all through high school! OSV is a great day trip for learning and beautiful historic homes! 10/10 Emily Recommended!

Tree House Brewing Company - Charlton

Tree House Brewing Company - Charlton

129 Sturbridge Road, Charlton, MA 01507

This micro-brewery is not so micro anymore! Treehouse Brewing Company is a for-sure stop for any beer lover! They also frequently have food trucks and live music!

Mystic Seaport

Mystic Seaport

Mystic, CT 06355

Take a trip down the Connecticut Coast to Mystic Seaport! Mystic, CT, has the historic seaport museum, Mystic Aquarium, and lots of good sightseeing! It is also home to the Mystic Pizza Restaurant as made popular by the 1988 movie with Julia Roberts!

Newport, RI

Newport, RI

Newport, RI

Welcome to Newport! Historic mansion tours (Emily highly recommends the Vanderbilt Mansion), the Cliff Walk, and a quaint downtown! There are numerous mansions to tour, and if you don't want to pay, you can stroll along the Cliff Walk and see many of the mansions' exteriors for free! Downtown Newport is worth a stroll with cute shops and delicious restaurants. They also do lighthouse cruises around the harbor!

Hiking

Hiking

If hiking is more your thing, check out Purgatory Chasm (Sutton, MA), Bigelow Hollow (Union, CT), Devil's Hopyard (East Haddam, CT)!

Gillette Castle State Park

Gillette Castle State Park

67 River Road, East Haddam, CT 06423

Did you know, Gillette's Castle was one of Hans and Emily's first dates? Built by the eccentric stage actor, William Gillette (no relation to the razors), in 1914, this castle is a terrific day trip! It sits on the Connecticut River, and you can do a riverboat or steam train tour using Essex Steam Train & Riverboat! You can tour the inside of the castle, which Gillette modeled after the interior of a ship. There is also hiking around the property, including a walk along a railroad track Gillette had built for his own custom mini-train.
