Mark is a DMV local who always wanted to move out to sunny California. Instead, he had a chance encounter in DC one fateful evening with Michelle, who was SoCal born and raised. Fast-forward five years, and the valley girl and cool lawyer were finishing each other’s sentences... and sandwiches (Michelle more often the culprit of eating the sandwiches).

Amidst the COVID pandemic, they celebrated Mark’s birthday indoors and Mark suggested a breath of fresh air at the National Mall. Michelle lamented the thought of bracing the dark and cold evening, and was soon shocked to a stutter when Mark got down on one knee. While Mark did not expect to have a grumpy partner on the evening stroll, he achieved the element of surprise!
