One night in late September, Alex and Hanne were sitting down in a brewery with beers and a chessboard. Both feeling nervous, even though they were in deep concentration over the game, the conversation was easy but died down quickly after the other made their move. Hanne had shown up early for this date and had grabbed a table before the evening crowd. Alex had also shown up early with the same idea. When he walked up and saw Hanne, a moment of panic shot through him, was he late? This was, in fact, their first date. The two had met online and soon, after some fantastic conversations, decided to meet. Alex waved at Hanne as he walked up, greeting her with big smile and motorcycle helmet tucked under one arm and a cheeseboard under the other. Needless to say, the date went well. The two laughed and joked, both enjoying thrilling wins and losses in their game. Before they knew it they had shut down the brewery and had spent several hours after chatting into the night before parting ways. In the days, weeks, and years to follow their days have been filled with fun adventures and new experiences, both growing with other. The two have faced many challenges in their years together, quarantining, puppies, moving, building furniture without instructions, but have overcome them all with love, compassion, support, and understanding.
