Hannah and TJ met at Kennesaw State University. TJ set his eyes on Hannah, and they had mutual friends who worked together to introduce them. They hit it off instantly, and within two weeks they were officially boyfriend and girlfriend.

Early in their relationship, Hannah told TJ about her parents' proposal and how she would love to be proposed to in the same way, which was tailgating at the University of Alabama. TJ remembered and worked with Hannah's parents and family friends until Alabama and Tennessee met for homecoming. Those involved positioned TJ and Hannah in front of Bryant Denny Stadium during the homecoming parade when TJ got down on one knee and proposed.
