On December 15th Hannah Rose got a text from a family friend Jeff that said, "Can I call you about something?" Thinking that something was wrong, she immediately called him. Jeff explained that he had a formal work Christmas party that he was hosting at his house in just three days, and that he was worried that he put too much responsibility on his wife Laurie to host the event on her own. Jeff asked if Hannah Rose could come over to their house at 5pm on the 18th to help with set up and to help greet people as they arrived. Hannah Rose was happy to help, told Jeff she would be there, and they hung up the phone. Later that day Hannah Rose was talking to her friend Nick on the phone explaining how she was going to be helping Jeff with a Christmas party at his house to which Nick responded, "Oh yeah! He has that work Christmas party every year! You'll have fun." As you can see, Nick was in on the whole surprise, and HR thought nothing of it. As December 18th rolls around, HR spends the day at her grandparents house helping her mom wrap some Christmas presents. Alex was also there for the day, but said that he was going to leave to have lunch with his mom. He told HR goodbye, and walked out the door. This is when he went to the Jones house and started setting up with the help of of both his and HR's family. As the time got closer to 5pm, Hannah Rose began to get ready for this "Christmas party" at the Jones house, and headed out the door. When she got to the Jones house, Jeff was in the front yard blowing off leaves, and told her to hop on the golf cart so they could ride around back and "put some ice in the coolers". Still oblivious to what was about to happen, Hannah Rose jumped on the golf cart and they went around to the backyard where the Jones have a dock with a beautiful view of the water. When they turned the corner and begin to approach the dock, Hannah Rose saw Alex standing in a suit with a big smile on his face. The sun was just beginning to set, there was music playing in the background, and there were roses and champagne awaiting at the bottom of the dock. This is the point where she clued in to what was happening. Alex grabbed her hands and said, "Hey honey", and then they walked to the bottom of the dock while Hannah Rose couldn't stop giggling. They made it to the bottom of the dock, Alex got down on one knee, and then hilariously and unintentionally, "Should I Stay or Should I Go" by The Clash began to play through the speaker. After spending some time together watching the sunset, they went into the Jones house where they were greeted by many of their closest friends and family. They had mimosas with hand squeezed orange juice (shoutout to Matt Harrison), sushi from Fancy Sushi (shoutout to Ivy), and enjoyed the company of their loved ones. Weezer radio was on shuffle, there were Christmas trees lit, and it was an all together beautiful evening that they will never forget.
