We’re Making It Official

They met while attending college at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo. They were both volunteers for Wildflower, a triathlon where they gave college students beer tokens in exchange of their service. Nick was a seasoned, committee volunteer, while Hannah was in the general volunteer population on behalf of Real Food Collaborative. After a long day of volunteer work, the general volunteers headed back to their camping village where they enjoyed beer, food, a fire pit and loud music. Committee volunteers had their own village closer to the race, but on this night, the volunteer coordinator allowed the crew to go to the general village for just 2 hours to celebrate. Nick used his first hour to redeem his beer tokens, then headed to the dance floor where he met Hannah and asked her to dance. They danced for the next hour til Nick was called to go back to his village. You could say it was a modern day Cinderella story, being pulled away right when the clock struck 12. Thankfully they had time to exchange numbers and a kiss before Nick headed back.

In the relationship, Hannah is definitely the planner, so Nick knew in order to not set off any suspicion he would have to be clever. Nick enlisted the help of their friends Ray, Rodney and Cole to coordinate a "brunch" at a local spot by Alamo Square, a park Nick and Hannah used to frequent when they lived in their first SF apartment together. While heading to "brunch", Nick suggested they cross through Alamo Square as they normally do walking that way. This time though, Nick had a beautiful picnic set up and got down on one knee to propose. The "brunch" crew was hiding in the bushes to get some great photos, and help us to celebrate afterward.

We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter of our lives with you all. We picked Stern Grove in San Francisco as our venue because we have many fond memories attending their free summer concert series, set amongst beautiful eucalyptus and redwood trees. Cheers to making more memories, and see you all in San Francisco!
