How We Met

June 2010

From the bride: I met Dylan when I was 14 years old, at a family celebration for his 15th birthday. My friend Mercedes invited me to go swimming at a family birthday party at her grandma’s house. We were celebrating June birthdays for both her brother and her aunt Kristin’s stepson, Dylan. I remember hanging out with Dylan that day, thinking “he’s cute” but would’ve never in a million years thought, “this boy is going to be your husband”. After meeting, we stayed in touch here and there over the years, but with us living on opposite ends of Houston, we never became anything more than just good friends. It wasn’t until our freshman year of college in 2014, when we were even further away from each other (3.5 hours), that we decided to start our relationship… Make sense, right? Yeah, I don’t get it either. But from starting in a long-distance relationship in 2014, to attending the University of Houston together from 2014-2016, to going back to long distance in the fall of 2016 when I started pharmacy school, to breaking up for 3 months (biggest regret of his life, yeah we don’t talk about it), and then making the decision to jump back into a long distance relationship in 2017 until I moved back to Houston in 2019; we have been able to grow together and support each other through all of the wonderful and not so wonderful things that life has thrown at us. I couldn’t have asked for a greater partner to experience life with and I can’t wait to see what marriage has in store for us!

Proposal

January 14, 2021

From the groom: Looking for the perfect time to propose to Hannah was hard to come by. With her being busy with her residency, I was originally planning on waiting until she completed residency and summer came around to pop the question. But then, some of our best friends decided to plan a ski trip to Park City, Utah at the beginning of the year in 2021; and I realized this would be the perfect time, surrounded by some of our closest friends, for me to propose. I started looking for rings on instagram around September to get an idea and found the perfect ring. The only problem was, it was in Los Angeles. Luckily, I was able to get a good deal on flights because of COVID, and I told Hannah I was going to go on a boys trip for the weekend to visit my friend Josh in LA. I got the ring right after we landed, and the boys and I enjoyed the rest of the weekend together in LA, with Hannah having no idea as to why we were really there. Fast forward to January of 2021, we are on a plane to Park City, Utah. As soon as we got to our airbnb, I ventured out with the boys to find the perfect spot. It was our first night in Park City and we walked as a group into town to get dinner. Our friends set up cameras ahead of time and hid behind a nearby building. I walked Hannah into the snow, got down on my knee, popped the question, and the rest is history.
