Because of Shawn’s surgery in September, we weren’t able to do much for our 1 year anniversary. November rolled around and his boss found out last minute that he had to go out of town. So, he wanted to let us have the hotel room he booked at Ross Bridge since it was already booked and he thought it would be nice to catch up on the celebration. Day of: I (Hannah) left for work with a simple overnight bag and a couple of dresses as options for a nice supper. I fixed my hair during lunch at work and headed out at 4:30 for the start of a fun weekend! Shawn beat me to the hotel and was ready when I got there. I thought something was weird about this because he usually gets off work after me but I figured he just left a little early. Honestly, I was so flustered from traffic, I missed a LOT of clues. We headed down to the hotel bar and talked about the past year we had together, how many memories we made, how much fun we’ve had, the little life we’ve built together. After a little while he suggested we go look around the hotel because, being close to the holidays, it was supposed to be decorated really pretty. We headed down by the pool and found no decorated windmill or much of anything really. Then Shawn asked for my drink, told me to put down my purse, and pulled something from his pocket. This something was a remote to turn on the most gorgeous lights I’ve ever seen, wrapped around a tent in the corner of the pool area. It was this moment that we both learned how high pitched I can be when surprised! After the initial shock, Shawn set up the Go-Pro camera to record the event and pulled me under the tent. He had a beautiful speech, none of which he can readily remember, but it was absolute perfection. He got down on one knee, like a true gentleman, and asked to marry me! Without even seeing the ring I screamed, “Yes!” and kissed him before he could stand up. It was the most gorgeous ring in the most perfect moment with the most amazing man I’ve ever known.
