Hannah Kate knew Josh wanted to propose, but with Josh's busy work schedule in May, she didn't expect it was going to happen anytime soon. Josh, however, had formed an elaborate plan to surprise her! With the help of Hannah Kate's sisters and a couple friends, Josh booked a flight to Kentucky, where Hannah Kate and her brother, Joseph, were headed (by way of Nashville) to visit a handful of dear college friends. He arranged to propose in the beautiful garden of one friend's parents' yard. While Hannah Kate was on the highway, he was nervously awaiting her. Just before Hannah Kate arrived, her friends called to say that they were all hanging out in the backyard, so they should just come around back (though secretly everyone else was hiding inside). Hannah Kate jumped out of the car as soon as it pulled in the driveway, and eagerly ran around back to be the first to hug her friends, but instead, she was stunned to see Josh. She began walking over to him, but he made her pause and follow the path of rose petals he had strewn in a winding path. When Hannah Kate reached the end of the path, there was Josh, standing under a willow tree, with a bouquet of flowers, a single red rose, and a ring. She hugged him for the longest time, while he told her how much he loved her. Then he said "Are you ready?" and he dropped to one knee. Hannah Kate immediately hugged him, and then realized she still needed to give an answer! She said "Yes!" After a few quiet moments alone, Hannah Kate and Josh went inside to find their dear friends and Hannah Kate's sister and brother-in-law, who flew up to Kentucky with Josh. The group had planned a small party to celebrate. Josh managed to pull off a surprise proposal, but it's no surprise how happy their friends and family were to celebrate such happy news, nor is it a surprise how much they love each other!
