Some people are lucky enough to experience love at first sight. Charlie is that lucky guy. It took me a little longer. Our love story is ten years in the making and it is full of patience, loyalty, hope, and a friendship that always brought us back together. Even though we grew up in the same wonderful small town, Charlie and I didn’t really become friends until high school. Charlie would have liked to be more than friends, but I was fine in the friend zone. We stayed friends throughout college, always getting together when we were both home. When I moved to Orlando, Charlie even visited me once. We were always finding our way back to each other. After I moved home from Disney, Charlie knew this was the time to make it happen. He even told some of our close friends in November that he was going to marry me. I have to admire his confidence. One night in February, we were hanging out at a friend's house and they started singing folk songs. When "You are My Sunshine" was sung, I knew Charlie would sing "you'll never know dear how much I love you" directly to me. I was right. Later that night he said, "You know I like you right?" and I said, "yes" because of course I'd always known. After that night, everything was different. Something finally shifted in me to see this boy as someone I could spend forever with. After ten years, we had matured and found ourselves in a relationship full of fun and laughter and the full knowledge of who we are. So we started dating and quickly realized this was the love we had both been waiting for. Charlie proposed on October 3, 2020 in the exact spot at Cheekwood where we will exchange our vows. It was in fact the easiest yes I’ve ever said. We are fully ourselves and fully in love and that has been the greatest gift. We are both so confident in the love we share and the future we want to build together. We are beyond excited to start our lives together and cannot wait to celebrate with you in June! all my love, hg
