Flight
While we are thrilled that you are choosing to celebrate our wedding with us abroad, we certainly hope that you are making more out of your trip than only to celebrate us! Traveling is something that we love to do as a couple, and hope that our wedding allows you to do the same! That being said, we will be offering round trip transportation for all of our guests from Villa Costanza, 50018 Scandicci, Metropolitan City of Florence, Italy. Villa Costanza is a "park and ride" tram station. Please see below for details: Villa Costanza to Casa Cornacchi on October 1 Departure: 1:00 PM Arrival: 2:30 PM Casa Cornacchi to Villa Costanza on October 3 Departure: 10:30 AM Arrival: 12:00 PM If you would like to "opt out" of such transportation, please discuss this with the bride and groom. Additionally, please indicate as such in the Guest Questionnaire that will be distributed with your formal invitation. For our friends and family from Finland, please see "Traveling from Helsinki" at the bottom of the page. For our friends and family from the US, please continue to the next section, below.
Travel Note
Typically, when flying from the US to Italy, flying into and out of either FCO (Rome Fiumicino Airport) or MXP (Milano Malpensa Airport) is cheaper than FLR (Florence Airport Peretola), as FCO and MXP are much larger international airports. Depending on your travel plans, we would recommend that most guests fly into either of these two airports and take a train to Florence. For guests who may already be in Italy and not traveling from either Rome or Milan, you may also consider traveling to Florence from other nearby large cities, such as Pisa, Venice, or Bologna. Please note for our friends and family flying from Buffalo, it is quite common to see flights with 2 layovers, or a change of airport from LaGuardia to JFK. To counter this, you may consider driving to and flying out of Toronto, where there are many direct flights or single layover flights to either Rome, or Milan. Finally, please be aware that major airports in Italy will require you to take either a tram or train from the airport into the city center, where the main train station is. Again, please do not hesitate to contact us to help you plan your travel!
Train
Fly into FLR (Florence Peretola) and take the tram from the airport to Firenze Santa Maria Novella. The tram runs every 10 minutes or so and is only 20 minutes long. There is no need to reserve in advance. The tram costs EUR 2/person.
Train
If traveling from a nearby city, you may consider traveling via train, as it is generally cheaper and more comfortable than air travel. Please click the "view" button below to access the Italia Rail website, one of the main trainlines in Italy. If traveling via train, we HIGHLY recommend spending the few extra dollars to reserve a "business class" ticket. The Business Class cabins feature stronger air conditioning, wide leather reclining seats with extra legroom, complimentary food and beverage, extra room for luggage and power outlets. During our time in Italy, the standard cabins were jam packed with travelers fighting to the death to find seats and no room for their luggage, so this tiny upgrade goes a long way to making your vacation actually feel like a vacation! If traveling via train from a nearby city, the rides are typically the below duration: From Rome to Florence - ~1.5 hours From Milan to Florence: ~2 hours From Venice to Florence: ~2 hours From Pisa to Florence: ~1.5 hours from Bologna to Florence: ~40 minutes
Train
If you are traveling from Helsinki, the route with the lease amount of travel time would be to fly into MXP (Milan Malpensa) and take a direct train from Milano Centrale to Firenze Santa Maria Novella. The train is about 2 hours in length. Alternatively, you could fly into Rome, and take the train from Roma Termini to Santa Maria Novella. The train is about 1.5 hours in length. Please click the "view" button below to access the Italia Rail website, one of the main trainlines in Italy.
