Things To Do

1. Visit the Sanctuary of Bom Jesus do Monte
This is Braga’s most iconic attraction: a baroque church perched on a hill, connected by a monumental staircase. You can either climb the steps or take the historic funicular up. Once at the top, enjoy the gardens and panoramic views.
2. Sanctuary of Our Lady of Sameiro
Located on one of the highest points in Braga. The basilica is neoclassical, and inside you’ll find a silver tabernacle and a gilded statue of Mary. Nearby is a beautiful viewpoint (“miradouro”) with sweeping views over Braga and the surrounding hills.
3. Braga Cathedral (Sé de Braga)
This is one of Portugal’s oldest cathedrals, with architectural layers spanning Romanesque, Gothic, and Baroque style.
4. Visit Porto
Porto is likely where you’ll fly into, and it’s absolutely worth exploring. From Braga, it’s only about a 45-minute drive or train ride. The city offers a little of everything -renowned wine, charming local restaurants, and breathtaking architecture.
