If you can believe it, we've known each other since the ripe old age of six years old! That's right-- we met in first grade, sitting criss-cross applesauce on the floor in classic girl-boy-girl-boy formation, two in a line of many waiting to receive a birthday cupcake from the parent volunteer making her way around the circle. Unfortunately, we were not able to celebrate the birthday boy with the rest of our class, as we were both sent into the hall for disrupting the festivities before they'd even started. After receiving his frosted treat, little Soren had turned to the girl sitting beside him, and asked "Do you think I can eat this whole cupcake in one bite?" Six-year-old Hannah had never spoken to him before, but shrugged. Soren rose to this irresistible challenge with gusto, smashing icing and sprinkles alike into his mouth (before the birthday boy had taken the first bite of his own cupcake-- a serious violation of first-grader social norms), littering the carpeted floor with crumbs. Shocked and delighted by this bold move, Hannah burst into laughter, and both of us were removed from the birthday circle and reprimanded in the hall. This moment marks the beginning of a friendship that grew stronger and more hilarious with every passing year, until we parted ways for middle school. We reconnected in the last months before we were set to graduate from Boulder High School, and made our relationship official after Prom 2018, on April 29th. We had one summer together before parting to attend different (rival) colleges (Hannah at Colorado State University while Soren attended CU Boulder). Now post-grad, we have been by each other's sides ever since. We got engaged over Labor Day weekend in 2025, and we are so excited to start this new chapter together and to celebrate with all our favorite people!
