Hannah and Shondarius met in 2018 while both working at Crossroads Baptist Church. They weren’t friends initially - one of them was shy and the other was aloof (you can guess which was which). However, over time, a friendship started growing and continued getting stronger through numerous birthday celebrations, concerts, movies, and hangouts. And (surprise, surprise), the closer their friendship got, the more they realized that, maybe, they wanted to be more than friends. When the pandemic started, they spent the majority of their time in quarantine texting, talking on the phone for hours, and having virtual movie nights. It was during this time that they both realized that there was no way that they could go on being “just friends”. So, on May 28th, after a drive-in movie, Shondarius asked Hannah to be his girlfriend. And now, for over a year, they have continued to build a beautiful relationship.
It was November 15, 2020 in Hermann Park under an oak tree when Shondarius got down on one knee and asked Hannah six words: “So, do you want to do this?", to which Hannah replied, “heck yeah”. Afterwards, their night consisted of two things they love: an amazing dinner and Family Feud reruns. The engagement happened in a way that perfectly suited the couple. No hidden cameras, no big production, just two people in love with each other committing to spend forever together. It may seem unorthodox, but they couldn’t imagine beginning the engagement any other way. While "do you want to do this?" may have seemed like a silly way to ask, it has become a way to look at their future together: Do you want to do this? Do you want to be together? Do you want to serve together? Do you want to start a family together? Do you want to stick beside each other through thick and thin? Do you want to grow together? Do you want to glorify God together? It’s one thing to say you will, but another to say you want to. You see, many of you will wake up tomorrow and go to work. Many of you (hopefully all) will pay your taxes. But, do you want to? Shondarius and Hannah not only know they will say “I do” and spend the rest of their lives together, but much more than that, they want to. And they want you to celebrate this with them on October 8th, 2021.
