Shane and I first met on an online dating site in September of 2021. I was intrigued when I saw his profile explain he was looking for someone who was serious about their faith and walk with Jesus (plus I thought he was cute!) We started talking about Bible study, our mutual interest in sports, (especially hockey), and the qualities we were looking for in a potential spouse. It was clear that we both desired to date with the ultimate purpose being marriage and decided to meet in person. Fast forward to a few days later: we met in downtown Grapevine and had our first date at Farina’s Winery & Cafe. We were both pleasantly surprised when we met in person! You never know what you’re going to get with these dating apps and thankfully we both did in fact look like our profile pictures haha! One of our favorite memories from that night was buying a bottle of wine and writing the date on the cork - 09/24/21. That weekend we spent almost 24 hours together and we knew early on we wanted to be exclusive. Over many miles driven back and forth to see each other and hours spent on the phone, we have built our relationship on what we value most - our relationship and devotion to Jesus. The thing we appreciate most about our relationship is our mutual honesty and communication with one another. In the spring we began a premarital class called Merge through Watermark Community Church, which was sentimental since that church had been apart of both of our lives at different points in time. On July 15th, Shane proposed to me in Oklahoma at his family reunion. Despite raising some suspicion after suggesting we go on a hike in a nice collared shirt, we made our way up to a beautiful scenic overlook with a giant wooden cross where he got on one knee and popped the question. He even had his parents and a photographer waiting in hiding to capture the moment on camera! That weekend we celebrated with family and thanked God for all He’s done. It was an unforgettable weekend. We can’t wait to officially begin the next chapter of our lives together on October 30th and hope to see you there to celebrate!
