The Proposal

May 7th, 2023

All weekend leading up to the proposal, Sean kept me on my toes with mysterious dates. First it was a dinner date on Friday. He wouldn't tell me where we were going, just told me to be ready at 7pm. Sean ended up taking me to Kazimierz for live music, wine, and some amazing Cacio e Pepe (I still dream about this pasta!). Then on Saturday, Sean told me we had plans downtown at 2pm sharp. When we pulled up to park we were at the Symphony Hall and Sean surprised me with tickets to Ballet Arizona's All Balanchine performance (as a former ballerina, I was so excited to go to ballet with Sean). After the ballet, we walked around a nearby park and then went to The Compass for dinner. When we get to our table, the table was covered with rose petals and bouquet of a dozen roses. Our waiter even brought us champagne! At this point, I thought Sean was for sure proposing that night. A couple of my girlfriends were texting me asking for updates. The night ended with an amazing brownie sundae, but no proposal. By Sunday, I was pretty confused, but didn't think Sean was going to proposal. We were heading to brunch to celebrate Sean's parents birthdays (his mom's and dad's birthdays are only 10 days apart so we were doing a combined celebration). Afterwards, we had plans go bowling (the Wendt's are all incredible bowlers, so I was nervous for that). Sean's mom and sister were even texting "on our way!" -- so I had no clue anything was about to happen... We got to Mountain Shadows Resort for brunch and when we walked in I looked left toward the restaurant but Sean led me to the back patio and told me that's where they seat larger groups. There were only 5 of us going to brunch, so at this point I was getting suspicious. As we started to walk up to the back patio, half way up the stairs I saw rose petals everywhere, bouquets of roses and sunflowers (my favorite flower) and a small table for two with champagne and mimosas. Sean even had his sister Caitlin there, hiding and taking photos of the proposal. It was at that point I realized, we weren't going bowling that day.

For all the days along the way
