We envisioned this to be a formal event, but we didn’t want to say "thou shalt wear a tux" or black tie preferred as it can be limiting on some people. Most people will be in formal wear, but if that’s not what makes you comfortable we understand! Our number one priority is to see those we love there. By formal, it means suits or tuxes if possible, and floor length gowns. Scooter and Hannah love fashion and flair so if you want to express yourself by all means. The Queen Mary is in the Art Deco style with hints of Art Nouveau so vintage would fit right in. As in wedding etiquette, wearing white is not preferred by the couple. Black is totally okay! However, if you have something you aren’t sure about, ask Hannah. She has asked brides before several weddings before for outfit choices (if you know her you know she tends to dress a little eccentric) and found it very helpful and stress alleviating.
We will have an open call bar. Beer and wine will be included. Liquor options are Bombay, Jack Daniel’s, Sauza silver, Chopin, Famous Grouse, and Bacardi. Premium options are available for purchase. Do bring cash or be prepared to tip the bartenders. It’s hard work (Hannah can confirm).
We tried to be accommodating, but if we missed someone please let us know directly and we will work it out.
Of course! People are coming out of town and we respect that. Please note there will not be a lot of children present or set activities for them to partake in. The Queen Mary is also an older boat with the quirks of older construction. If you have children coming and they are not noted on your RSVP page let us know so we can make arrangements for them to have kid friendly food and be seated with you.
If you are staying on the other side of the shore from the Queen Mary, a ride or Uber is likely required anyway. As long as you are okay with a longer ride you’ll be fine. Long Beach has offerings closer to the airport that are a lot more affordable. There is an event in Long Beach that weekend by the ship so prices are higher than normal. We apologize for that.
The Queen Mary is a public area, like a hotel, and therefore has plenty of open spaces like the gift shops, the main promenade, and all are accessible from the Queen's Salon where our reception is. Feel free to wander around if you need. Please note it may be cold at night as you’ll be in the harbor.
Smoking is not permitted on the Queen Mary, but if you return to the reception desk area on the shore side there is an area designated for smoking.
If you are an individual who needs snacks on hand, please feel free to bring them. However, there is a bar with food on the ship. We also will have late night bites.
It’s nerve wracking to be in the situation, and we get it. There will be a ton of friendly people around and the couple will be very thoughtful with their guest list. If you don’t know the couple super well you can always reach out! We are really friendly. Hannah has a knack of befriending everyone.
Our ceremony is on the Capstan Deck which is outside. The Cocktail Hour and Reception are both indoors. However, it is on a boat in the harbor and if you walk around you may want a jacket or covering. We picked April to find the sweet spot between seasons but who knows what we'll see. If the weather is unfavorable to be outdoors we can flex things to be indoors if needed.
There will not be a coat check.
Please refer to the Registry tab for any gifts. They are saving for a big trip eventually and would love people to contribute to their honeymoon fund! There also is a small amount of items on the registry if you prefer a physical gift. If you cannot afford to contribute, that’s fine! Your presence is a present in and of itself. We love you!
The ceremony will be a nondenominational ceremony.
There will be a photographer and a photobooth.
No we do not!
