Our Wedding

We’re choosing to keep our wedding simple and intentional, creating space to celebrate in a few different ways with the people we love. Friday, September 4 We’ll begin the weekend with a dinner for our immediate families, giving them time to connect and get to know each other. Afterward, we’ll head to a local bar for a casual drink with our friends who are joining us from out of town. Anyone who is in town is welcome to join us! Saturday, September 5 We’ll share a private ceremony with our immediate families at Longview Carolina, the community where we’re building our home, with Caroline Clark officiating. Shortly after, we’ll gather with family and friends at Sassafrass Flower Farm to celebrate with food, drinks, and a relaxed evening together. Monday, September 7 We’ll head off to Antigua for our honeymoon! Because we’re keeping the wedding weekend small, we’ll be celebrating with our extended families separately in Texas and New York earlier in the summer. It means a lot to us to have time to gather in more personal ways with each group of people who have helped shaped us into the people we are today.

How We Met

Hannah and Saylor first crossed paths about five years ago through their mutual friend Caroline, who, full circle, will be officiating their wedding. At the time, Hannah had just landed a fully remote dream job and moved to Greenville on a whim, and Saylor had already been there for a few years completing his medical residency. Both preoccupied with their separate lives at the time, their original meeting was just a simple hello at a happy hour, nothing more. A few years later, Caroline stepped back in and mentioned Saylor to Hannah, and later Hannah to Saylor, thinking the timing and the stars might finally be aligned. Later that summer, Hannah sent the message that got things started. They went on their first date (a long walk at Furman University) and second date (a brunch picnic, catered by Saylor) within a few days. Days later, Saylor left for a 3-week adventure across Mongolia. They stayed in touch the whole time, sending long messages back and forth, and along the way, a deeply beautiful foundation began to take shape. By the time they were both back in Greenville, it felt clear that something special was unfolding. They had each lived full lives before this, but somehow found each other at exactly the right time, thanks to Caroline. Since then, it has felt pretty simple. Just choosing each other, one step at a time.
