Is there parking available for guests?

Answer

If staying at the Book Cadillac, there will be valet parking available. If planning on driving to the sangeet on Friday, there is public parking available at Port Atwater Parking, located at 200 Beaubien St. Detroit, MI 48226 If staying elsewhere, please inquire with your hotel regarding available parking in the area!

How do I get to the sangeet on Friday?

Answer

There will be a shuttle available leaving from the Book Cadillac hotel to Port Authority (where the boat is docking). Shuttle services for guests will begin at 6pm (although we kindly request family and bridal party on first shuttle trip, the shuttle will be making multiple trips).

Should I wear Indian clothes?

Answer

We encourage any guest interested in wearing Indian attire to do so! But there is no pressure or requirement! If shopping online we have used www.indianweddingsaree.com or utsav fashion.com and would recommend either. You can also check google reviews and yelp for stores that sell Indian clothes in your local area. If you go in person to a local store, the shopkeeper should be able to assist you if you let them know you are looking to buy clothes to attend an Indian wedding!

What type of Indian wear is appropriate for the Sangeet on Friday night?

Answer

The theme of dress for a Sangeet is festive! Consider bright and colorful garments, or accessorizing with a fun scarf or pashmina. If you choose to wear Indian clothes, you can shop through an Indian clothing website. You will want to select clothes that are categorized as “party wear” or “festive.” For women, lehengas, sarees, and salwar kameez are all considered appropriate. For men, sherwanis, kurta pyjamas, and nehru suits are all considered appropriate!

What is the dress code for the wedding events on Saturday?

Answer

Formal attire is requested for both the morning ceremony and the evening reception. For men, suits, tuxedos, festive kurta pyjamas, sherwanis and Nehru jackets are all appropriate. For the women, cocktail dresses, formal pantsuit or jumpsuit, floor length gowns, festive sarees, lehengas and salwars are all appropriate.

Are there Indian accessories that I can incorporate into my outfit?

Answer

If you wish to do so, you can accessorize with Indian jewelry, Bindis, Indian shoes, dupattas, Indian purses and stoles for men. All of these can be found online. Ask Hannah or Rohan if you need more help or suggestions!
