If you're coming in from out-of-state, you can fly into LAX, San Luis Obispo, or Santa Barbara. San Jose, San Francisco, and Oakland airports are also options, though a little further away. Renting a car is probably the most straightforward option, but there is a shuttle that runs to Santa Maria from LAX, and there are Amtrak lines from Los Angeles to Guadalupe (about 10 miles west of Santa Maria), and from Oakland and San Jose to San Luis Obispo. We're happy to help people coordinate carpooling and ride sharing.
Dressy casual attire is welcome. The venue is outdoors at a vineyard. The weather should be warm, but it will cool off after the sun goes down. The ground is a little uneven, so stilettos and very high heels are not recommended.
Rancho Ontiveros is a ~20 minute drive from downtown Santa Maria. There is a shuttle to transport guests between the Santa Maria Inn and the venue. You do not need to stay at the Santa Maria Inn to take advantage of the complimentary transportation. Look for a school bus at the Santa Maria Inn at 1:30; it will depart for the venue at 1:45, and drop off in the parking area at Rancho Ontiveros. An additional shuttle will transport guests from the parking area to the ceremony space. The return bus will leave the venue at 9:30. Cell reception/internet connection at Rancho Ontiveros is very spotty and you will not be able to order an Uber/Lyft or taxi. The roads heading to and from the Ranch are dark and winding. Guests who may not want to drive at the end of the night should plan on taking advantage of the bus or plan for a designated driver. Parking for those driving their own cars will be marked. There is a shuttle from the parking area to the ceremony and reception space.
No, we're not registered for gifts. We have limited storage space and maximalist home decor tastes, so there's very little we need. Contributions toward our honeymoon and home savings are appreciated, but your presence is the best gift.
