From His Prospective The story of how I met and fell in love with the most wonderous girl in the world had an awkward start. I can’t two step and this was never more evident than the night I met Hannah Piper, a southern gal with the best smile I know. I might have lost my battle on the dance floor that night, but I must have done something right to earn a second, third, fourth, and so on dates down the road. As the Christmas season came upon us, she went back to Georgia, and I stay in Wichita. Those facetimes and phone calls that winter was when I realized I had to do everything to keep this girl in my life. I was constantly reminded by God that she is the one for me, as I would get districted by our text conversation when I should have been present in the moment with family, or I call it a night early just to wait for those late night chats over the phone to recap our time with family. God had greater plans for Hannah and I in 2020, as she would end up quarantining with my family that spring until she finished her 2nd year of her doctorate program and I graduated with my undergrad. She then ventured off to D.C. to do her externship and I stayed to start my masters. Distance was a challenge, but I know that we as a couple grew more in these 12 months apart than we ever did quarantining together. The moments together that I am most fond of are the late-night drives to and from the airport, sing alongs in the car to Toby Keith or Miranda Lambert, Saturday coffee runs to the nearest Dunkin Donuts, and long hugs. But her joy, beauty, and love for others including Christ is what I find most remarkable about Hannah, and I’m sure you will as well. After she received her doctorate, I proposed on a “supposed vacation” on May 29th, 2021 in Mobile, AL and she said Yes! I’m so excited to spend forever with not only my best friend, but also someone who I know loves Jesus as much as I. We can’t wait to celebrate our special day with everyone on May 21, 2022.
From Her Perspective Where do I begin? Nate and I met at the infamous “Club Rodeo” in Wichita. It’s where you could find me after a long week of classes and clinic dancing to every Copperhead Road and Strawberry Wine that played. Nate also happened to stop by one night and walked up to my friend first..awkward. Then he attempted to two step with me, which I quickly realized I would have to lead. I also convinced him to ride the mechanical bull which to this day he’ll say is what won me over. It didn’t. We continued to talk as friends after this night and meet up for coffee or lunch. I couldn’t believe I was beginning to develop feelings for this guy. But as I began to fall, he decided to go to formal with someone else. I was crushed. We continued to be friends and I told myself I wouldn’t catch feelings again. We then went to botanica one night for Christmas lights and y’all it was the most non-date dates ever. I was so confused. We ran into some of my friends and I had no clue how to introduce him. And of course they text me nonstop later about the cutie I was with. Come to find out, now Nate had caught feelings for me. What a roller coaster right?! I knew I was moving for my externship year and I had already caught feelings for this guy once. I don’t need to do this again. He assured me he wasn’t going anywhere. He’d wait until I was ready and prove that we should be together. He continued to be a great friend. And obviously since this is our wedding website….I fell for him again. Our next year included a global pandemic, lots of long distance, and most importantly lots of laughs. I’m so grateful to marry my best friend. I thank God for him everyday and can’t wait to be his wife.
