We first met at the preschool where we both worked. I (Hannah) was substitute teaching in Mars’s toddler class and we made conversation, quickly discovering we had a lot in common, like we were both from Tri-Cities and had both worked as nannies. We were casual work friends for 2 years before we became closer and eventually went on our first date. We’ve been inseparable ever since!

I took Mars to Kubota Gardens for a picnic of charcuterie and wine. At the bottom of the picnic basket, there was a box of chocolate covered strawberries spelling the words “Marry Me” and a ring box. Mars immediately pulled out another ring box that they’d hidden in their backpack. We put each other’s rings on and cried and laughed until our faces hurt and we were engaged! Now we are ready to make it official and we’re so excited to celebrate this special day with our loved ones!
