It was December 31st 2014 and we had both been invited to the USS Yorktown in Charleston for New Years Eve, shout out to Sarah & Nick. Unfortunately, Lucas already had a date for the night but I do remember telling Sarah how good looking I thought he was. We got to the boat and ended up going our separate ways, but Nick told us to be in the parking lot at 12:30 sharp so we wouldn't miss our ride, of course at 12:30 Lucas was nowhere to be found and everyone was calling him - about 5 mins later he shows up, asks me If I had my New Years Eve Kiss yet, once I said no he kissed me and the rest is history... 5 years later here we are about to get married!
Every year Lucas and a group of our friends do a trip to the beach on Memorial Weekend, we usually spend the days on the beach and cook dinner together every night, this year we decided to go out to eat one night. Lucas suggested we take photos on the beach before dinner so we all brought nice outfits and got all dressed up & we went to one of our favorite spots on Fripp Island but Lucas suggested we keep walking down the path so we could get a better view of the marsh - I was protesting because I was wearing wedges and if I lost my balance I would have ended up in the marsh!! Once we got down closer to the marsh Lucas got down on one knee in front of all of our close friends and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him, of course I said YES! My family and his family were hiding in the bushes, they finally emerged and we celebrated with champagne, then ended the night with all of my close friends and family at one of our favorite restaurants - Johnson Creek Tavern. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect day, I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you, Lucas Darnell <3
