The setting - London, 2019. My friend Christina and I were staying with our friends Duncan & Effie, and, as was our custom with every visit, we were about 3 margaritas deep, waxing poetic and talking shit about everything from childbirth to Kate Bush (seriously). In one of our many conversations, the topic of dating came up (also customary), especially since both Christina and I were between partners at that moment. "Hannah, you LOVE London...and you've always wanted to be here for a while...why not Bumble while you're here? It's low-risk..." How very, ridiculously wrong she was. I stumbled upon Louisa Freestone's profile nearly two DAYS into swiping left and right - when I got that exciting little kick in the gut that comes with "you're a match!" It wasn't the meet-cute I'd fantasized about, but SHE was cute, so we agreed about 3 seconds into our banter that we needed to meet. It felt compulsory. Essential. How very, ridiculously lesbian. We didn't get the chance to connect in person on that trip, and while that normally would have been the perfect formula for a romance that never was, something kept us both coming back to each other. This was different. (Again, cute! Banter!) So as soon as I was stateside, we set up a time to meet through a video chat. And man...instantly, we regretted not making that first date IRL. Ever the fixers that we are, and the hopeless romantic that I am, we set out to make this right. Within 3 weeks of our daily/nightly chats and texts, I flew BACK to London and we spent the rest of the week together. That fateful meeting took place in March of 2019 - almost 5 weeks to the day from when we first connected. And it completely changed the trajectory of our lives. We've been inseparable ever since. Five years, three countries, a COVID wedding, a house purchase, and an actual BABY later, here we are! Just a cool three years after gettin' hitched in our friend's living room in Lisbon, Portugal by a Justice of the Peace based in Provo, Utah...finally celebrating our union with our loved ones. Our time together has been anything but easy (see above: long-distance & COVID-19), but we wouldn't trade it. Well, not all of it. Because that journey led us here. With all of you. Thank you for sharing in our joy. All our Love, Hannah, Louisa, & March
