The Palace of Holyroodhouse is the official residence of the British monarch in Scotland and is located at the foot of the Royal Mile in Edinburgh. Its history dates back to 1128, when Holyrood Abbey was founded on the site, and it has played a significant role in Scottish history, including being the home of Mary, Queen of Scots. You'll be able to see her private bedchamber and belongings (and even the site of her secretary's murder, which she witnessed), the remnants of a Jacobite attack on the palace in the 1700s, and where Bonnie Prince Charlie stayed.
