I saved Hannah's life in the third grade when she slipped in the elementary school hallway. I was leaving a classroom and saw she'd fallen so I ran to help her up and the breath was knocked completely out of her. Later in the day, I asked my teacher if I could visit her class to check on her. So I did. A few years later, we became the best of friends and we truly grew up together. We played the trumpet together in band, the french horn together in concert season, attended the same church, etc. We even went to the 7th grade band dance together and fielded many years of our friends saying, "You guys should date!" with our responses, "Ew, no." Until senior year of high school when we thought differently. On the first day of spring in 2017, we went hiking together at a covered bridge after school. We stopped to take a photo next to the water and I just looked over at her and knew. We didn't start dating until later, after we'd moved off to different colleges. I asked Hannah to be my girlfriend on September 22, 2017.
Logan planned the perfect proposal. We were going to have our photos taken that day by my best friend, Courtney. This was something we'd done before, so I wasn't very suspicious. He'd even said things to throw me way off. We took photos at one location before moving to an overlook road in Birmingham right at sunset. I turned around to see Logan on one knee, asking, "Will you marry me?" I said, "WHAT?! YOU'RE KIDDING!" He shook his head, no. And I collapsed right next to him on the ground, crying, and saying, "Of course." Later that night, he led me to a gorgeous white house that he'd rented for the night filled with our nearest and dearest and the sweetest surprise party.
