Our Wedding Day Story

April 14, 2025

Did we know where we were getting married more than 24 hours in advance? Nah We spent the day before wandering around different spots trying to pick a ceremony spot, because Hannah is too chill to pick one in advance. The grass was wintertime brown. It was raining. Then it started snowing. The vibe? Chaotic. The next morning, we woke up and it was clouds covering everything so we — obviously — went paragliding. Except, turns out it’s illegal to fly through clouds (something about aircraft collisions, blah blah), so we had to sit on a mountain and wait for the sky to clear. Was good views and vibes. Eventually, we ran off the mountain floated down and landed in a literal flower field. Casual. We went back to our room, got ready, did a first look, then drove to a lake to write our vows and make sandwiches on the side of the road — using groceries Kyle picked up while Hannah was getting dressed. Romantic and efficient. After some cute photos, we drove down the road to Mürren — a tiny village perched on a cliff. Took the steepest gondola of our lives up. It was empty. Peaceful. Perfect. We walked through a field (that had magically turned green overnight?!), the skies cleared, the snow stopped, and it hit 68 degrees. Literal miracle. We said our vows just us and promised some cool things to each other. Then we tried to leave… and realized the town had shut down. Offices empty. No one in sight. Hannah pressed the emergency call button. The phone at the empty desk next to us rang. Cool. Turns out we accidentally took the last gondola ride of the day....going up. Luckily our photographer found a train across town leaving in 17 minutes. It was a 15-minute walk. Hannah power walked in a wedding dress and cowboy boots like a champion. Made it to the train. Took it to another town with a gondola. But that town? No open hotels. No cabs. No Ubers. Barely any people. So Kyle naturally walked to the police station for directions. Closed. No crime in Switzerland after 5. We ended up at a random hostel who pointed to a bus stop, waited for the next bus, took the most overdressed bus ride of our lives with a driver who didn't even question, and finally got back to the town where our car was. At this point, it’s after 7pm. Our dinner reservation is at 8. We get to the car. Kyle can’t find the parking ticket. The automatic gate won't let us out. It's cool, turns out it was shoved in the trunk so we didn't have to ram it. We made it to the hotel, changed in record time, and walked into the restaurant at 8:00 on the dot. It was absolutely perfect. Chaotic, hilarious, and unforgettable. The best day of our lives. (You can scroll through the photos to relive the day with us. Yes — it really happened.)
