If you could wrap up the time leading to us getting together into one word, the only logical choice is proximate. We overlapped in college, we had many of the same friends and our Greek Houses were next door to each other. Like an asymptote in mathematics, we were always getting closer and closer to each other but never actually making the connection. That is, until K.C. decided to initiate the “Slow Play.” Little, by little he subtly dropped hints, and started to put it in Hannah’s mind that he was interested. After some time of VERY SUBTLE hints she finally caught on when K.C. slyly tricked her into asking for his number. After a while of playful banter we ended up having our first date at a Bethany College Alumni Pirates Game in August of 2017. This Pirates game segued into an all-night shark week binge. And thus their love affair began.
The only real secret that should be kept in a relationship is an engagement. For K.C., this secret lasted for about seven months between the time that he decided to propose, to picking the ring, to waiting five months for the perfect occasion. Since the first date, the first "I love you" and one of our favorite weeks of the year are all related, it was only natural that K.C. would wait for Shark Week to pop the question. Armed with the permission of Hannah's father and two gummy sharks wrapped in a diamond ring, K.C. took his chances.
