How We MetHow We Met

We frequently get asked how we met, so we're here to tell you the very exciting story. We met on Bumble. Okay, guess it wasn't that exciting. But for two girls still finishing their degrees at BYU, this was the only real way to meet someone. Our first date came after three weeks of chatting on Bumble, mostly about silly things like what kind of cult we would start. But the spark was clear! We met up for our first date on BYU campus, Hannah having just finished teaching English 101 and Juniper having just finished rehearsals for who knows which project. I still remember seeing Hannah for the first time as she walked up to the bench where I was sitting between the HFAC and the JKB – the buildings where we spent more time than our actual apartments. Hannah's hair was long back then, and was sporting her professorial get-up. And I felt like my dreams had just come true. We proceeded to walk to Hannah's car, trying to hide what we felt was a painfully obvious fact that we were about to go on a date. Before entering the car, both of us asked, "You're not going to murder me, right?" After ice cream at Brooker's (a fairly new spot at the time that Hannah didn't have the heart to tell me she'd been to before because I was so excited) and a fairly political conversation (just to make sure they were on the same page before daring to take the evening further), we headed to Nickel City. Arcades have now become a special place for us. Not only was the majority of our first date at one, but they have always been a safe place for some friendly competition that ultimately ended in shared laughs and prizes. After some hard work, we left Nickel City with temporary tattoos, fake mustaches, and a good haul of Frooties. I really didn't want the night to end, so I invited Hannah back to my place to share said Frooties. Candy wrapper war ensued, and Hannah has said it was "pretty cute" when I applied her temporary tattoo – high enough on her arm to be hidden from English 101 students, of course. The rest, as they say, is history. For a fun little throw-back, check out https://youtube.com/shorts/uLJu-fKVEeY?feature=share
