Hannah Marie Loera was born to Zuriel Oswaldo Loera and Barbara Jean Neyens on December 17th, 1999 in Austin, TX. As a kid, Hannah was extremely bright and outgoing. She loved dancing, singing, and going on adventures with her sister, Christina. From drill team captain to choir president, Hannah thrived in the arts, while also pursuing passions in leadership and outreach. After focusing on volunteering with children and adults with exceptional needs, she continued this work while pursuing a B.S. degree in Justice Systems at Truman State University. Her passion for equality and inclusion brought her to Joensuu, Finland, where she completed master's classes in international law and human rights. She graduated from Truman State University with multiple honors and joined Americorps' Teach for America. She is currently a teacher for Special Education at Waianae High School in Waianae, Oahu. She loves Marvel movies, tacos, and people falling down in really funny ways.
Joseph Hans Sauer Hammond was born to David Hammond and Linda Hammond on April 27th, 2000 in Columbia, MO. Growing up, Joseph was very creative and more reserved. He loved playing trombone, baseball, and playing with his sister, Emily. Some of his fondest memories come from his family road trips to Canada to visit his mom's side of the family. While in high school, Joseph always strived for academic excellence and routinely served as a leader of Battle High School's marching band. At Truman State University, Joseph worked tirelessly to establish himself as one of the top musicians of the school. He participated in jazz band, wind ensemble, marching band, orchestra, concert band, and chorus. In 2022, he was named a winner of [insert concerto competition name]. After graduating with his Master's in Education in 2023, Joseph moved to Hawai'i to serve as the new assistant band director of Waianae High School. In his free time, Joseph loves reading, playing Magic the Gathering, and making ridiculous puns.
Hannah met Joseph in a group chat for future students of Truman State University, the summer before their freshman year of college. Before the first day of class, they knew they wanted to be together. Through four years of hard work and snowstorms, textbooks and pandemics, Joseph and Hannah supported each other. Their love even spanned the globe when Hannah traveled to Finland to study abroad. Over the years and the miles between them, their love has thrived, and they are excited to take this next step in their journey together.
Joseph proposed to Hannah underneath the Christmas Tree at the Austin Trail of Lights in December of 2022, after more than four years together. He pulled out the ring, and she asked him, "Are you sure?" Luckily for us, they both said yes.
