Question

Is Cartagena safe?

Answer

Yes!!! The seaside city of Cartagena is one of the safest places in the entire country, as well as one of the most popular tourist destinations in Colombia. Crime against tourists is practically unheard of in Cartagena. You will stay safe in the city as long as you use common sense and exercise normal precautions!

Question

What is the currency in Colombia?

Answer

The currency in Cartagena, Colombia is Colombian Pesos (COP). To find out how much something costs In Colombia, you can simply divide the cost by the day's exchange rate. You can find the exchange rate by simply googling "1usd in COP". For example, today's exchange rate is 4,400. So if I'm in Colombia and I want to know how much a $41,000-COP meal will be in US dollars, I'd divide it by 4,400 and get $9.31. Almost everywhere in Cartagena takes card as a form of payment. However, we do recommend exchanging some money into pesos to use for things like souvenir's, snacks, and taxis.
