We met at Kentucky Christian University in August 2016. Hannah was a freshman and Jonathan was a sophomore. They got tricked into going on a double date to Grayson lake, where Jonathan's friend had the bright idea to swim across the lake and back. The boys did, and when they got back Jonathan came and sat in the hammock with Hannah. His signature (and unique) opening liner was, "What's your most embarrassing story?" Hannah blanked. But don't worry, Jonathan had 3 or 4 quite embarrassing stories to tell. In the midst of another embarrassing story, Jonathan pauses and says, "I need to go throw up." So, he gets up, goes about 10 feet away and totally pukes. It was a great first impression. We became really good friends for a while, and a few months later Jonathan was encouraged to tell Hannah about his feelings for her. Hannah turned him down, and friendzoned him. Thankfully, it didn't affect our friendship, and we became very close friends over the next few months. Over these few months, Hannah was developing strong feelings for Jonathan, but wanted to make sure it was her decision and not just her succumbing to peer pressure. It was February 2017, and we were on a ministry team trip and Jonathan was preaching. This was Jonathan's first time preaching for an audience other than the classroom. He seemed a bit nervous, but fine overall. As he is being introduced, Jonathan vanishes from the aisle, and then comes back moments later. We come to find out Jonathan had to throw up, and the only trash can available was the head pastor's. On the drive back, the moves began. We were flirting, it was obvious. So obvious that our friends in the backseat asked us about it a few days later. That night, our hands reached over to each other and we held hands. Jonathan's first comment? "Okay, what is this?" We had a conversation about our future relationship, expectations we had, and our commitment to one another, and the rest is history.
