Back in the summer of 2017, Hannah and Joe both worked at the Kinney Center for Autism Education and Support on the campus of SJU (The Hawk Will Never Die!). Han at the front desk and Joe working with campers for the annual Camp Kinney. Each day, Joe would pass by the front desk and just look at Hannah, never saying "hi". Months went by and the two would see each other around campus and work but nothing more. Still no "hi". After deciding to work more direct with clients and campers the following summer, Hannah noticed someone familiar in her group. You guessed it.. Joe! A week of camp went by and still no "hi". Until finally, Hannah and Joe were put together as extra support for the day when their two campers didn't show up. Finally there it was; the "hi".
Fast forward, after almost a year of rejected "when are you making me dinner" , date requests and "Are you going to Ryan's tonight?" ... Joe and Han began their adventure together... with a first date of hot dogs and burgers of course. Their relationship would consist of (many) nights at Ryan's Pub, Quesadillas Tuesdays (if you know you know), an ongoing Philly vs Miami sports rivalry and unconditional love.
March 3rd, 2023, Hannah thought she had kept Joe from suspecting a surprise birthday celebration she had planned with friends in Philly. However, Joe had turned the tables on her. On their way down to the city, Joe suggested they take a detour to drop off something to his brother at his dorm on the SJU campus. Joe strategically parked so that they had to walk past the building where they met 5 years prior. Little did Hannah know, he would get down on one knee and ask her to marry him. With an answer of "Yes", the planning to celebrate with family and friends began. Joe and Hannah have truly been through it all; COVID, Han's grad school journey, Joe finishing up school during a pandemic and letting Han shave his head with a beard trimmer, Hannah studying for her boards, Joe taking on grad school, new jobs, semi-long distance, growing as adults and realizing what it means to find your person. As we take on this new journey together, we cannot wait to kick it off with all of our favorite people. A celebration & thank you for those who have supported us together and separately. We love you!
