FAQs

Question

Where are you registered?

Answer

Please do not feel obliged to buy us a wedding gift; all that we are expecting is your company. If you would like to give something, a contribution towards our first-house fund would be greatly appreciated. We do have a small registry of gifts that we’d love to receive at our shower. Please click the “Shower Registry” heading at the top of the page for more details.

Question

Are kids invited?

Answer

While your children are loved, our ceremony and reception will be adults only (12 and up). We would like all adults to be able to relax without the worry of little ones and we encourage you to find a sitter and enjoy the evening out.

Question

Can I bring a date?

Answer

Yes! We want everyone to have a great time. So if you’re single but NOT ready to mingle and would like to bring a date, please feel free. Just remember to please include your date’s full name and entree choice when sending back your RSVP card.

Question

Where are you going on your honeymoon?

Answer

Hannah wanted to go somewhere adventurous where we could explore and experience a new culture. J.Michael wanted to go somewhere where we could sit on a beach and relax for days on end. So after lots of research (done by Hannah), we’re planning to go somewhere that we can do both - the Canary Islands! If all goes according to plan, we’ll be shipping off on Sunday 10/4 after all of the weekend festivities have wrapped up and will be flying into Madrid. From there, we’ll take another flight into Lanzarote, the easternmost Canary Island. After spending some time on Lanzarote, we’ll take a puddle-jumper over to Tenerife, the largest and most populous Canary Island. From Tenerife, we’ll take a few day trips to some of the smaller islands, Santa Cruz la Palma and El Hierro. When it’s time to start heading home, we’ll take a flight out of Tenerife back to Madrid, spend about 36 hours in the capital city, before heading back home to Chicago. We can’t wait!

Question

Is Hannah taking J’s last name?

Answer

Short Answer: She still doesn’t know. Longer Answer: Her identity and her family are two of the most important things in the world to her. But so is J.Michael. Therein lies her dilemma. As of now (t-minus six months until the wedding) she’s leaning towards legally hyphenating to Hannah Loehrke-Wagner, but going by either Hannah Loehrke or Hannah Wagner interchangeably in every day life.

Question

Who will be walking Hannah down the aisle?

Answer

This is obviously a sensitive subject. Our wedding is going to be the biggest day of Hannah’s life and it’s beyond heartbreaking to us that her dad won’t physically be with us to celebrate. With that said, he most certainly will be present in spirit, filling us all with his love and spreading his contagious smile across each of our faces. It wouldn’t feel right to make any substitutions for such an amazing man, so after much consideration and reflection, Hannah will be walking solo, with her dad’s spirit by her side.

Question

If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to J.Michael or Hannah....unless it’s October 1st, 2nd, or 3rd. If you need help with something last minute, please contact the appropriate point person. No offense, but we don’t want to be taking your phone calls that weekend 😉
