Our story begins at a dog park in Jacksonville, FL, where fate had a plan for us, even if we didn’t know it yet. Both of us had moved to the city, each chasing our careers and new opportunities. Hannah had relocated from New York, and Hiram was making a big change by moving from Puerto Rico. In an effort to meet people and get outside of our apartments, we both decided to adopt dogs. Hannah’s dog, Summer, immediately took a liking to Hiram. As soon as she saw him, she started jumping up on him with excitement and never left his side. Meanwhile, Saphira, Hiram’s dog, had an instant bond with Summer, choosing her as the dog she wanted to play with most at the park. It was clear that our dogs had found their new best friends at the park, and naturally, we found ourselves making plans to meet up more and more, taking long walks together, and spending rainy days at one another’s apartments just to keep the hangouts going. At the time, we both knew something special was blossoming between us, but neither of us had the courage to admit it. Instead, we leaned on the dogs as our excuse to keep hanging out, not quite ready to confess what we were truly feeling. But with a little push from our friend Colleen, Hiram finally found the courage to share his heart with Hannah. The rest, as they say, is history. Now, here we are—getting ready to start our forever journey together, not just as a couple, but as a family of four. And we’re so excited to continue this adventure with our two fur babies by our side.
