We've heard it all before, two campers meet at bible camp and fall in love... and you're hearing it again. Hannah was sitting on the retaining wall talking to Jerry Stroot, when all of a sudden, a boy with the most beautiful blue eyes walked up behind him. She turned to him and, without thinking twice, said "You have really pretty eyes!" He started throwing pine needles in her hair, realizing if he did this she would make him take them out again. On the last day of camp during God and I time, Hayden threw his snapchat (classic) into Hannah's hair while she was sitting on the same bench that they first interacted by. She added him a few days after camp, and the rest is history!
After meeting at Bluewater, Hannah and Hayden began talking every day. They came to find out that their families were super connected! Hayden's mom Sherry lived with Hannah's mom and parents when she first started teaching. Sherry also played college sports with two of Hannah's great aunts! As they were learning of all the connections, they continued to grow closer, and Hannah visited Roseau for the first time to visit Hope, Aaron, and of course Hayden. They hit it off right away, and people started asking if they were together. The traditionlists they are, they wanted to meet each other's parents before beginning to date. So Hannah met Hayden's parents at one of his football games, which they ended up turning into their first date, going to the movies in Grand Forks. Later that month Hope, Aaron, and Hayden came to visit Hannah in Grand Rapids, and after they had carved pumpkins and were watching a movie, Hayden asked Hannah to be his girlfriend. She said yes! Then talk of the army national guard started brewing, which eventually lead to their long-distance relationship becoming even longer of a distance. When he got back, it was right back to where they left off. Hannah graduated high school later that year, and then it was off to college for the both of them. Hayden and Hannah attended different colleges, so distanced dating did not stop there. But they pushed through and made it to summer where they both worked at Bluewater. Like almost every couple does, they went through some bumps in their relationship, a big one taking place at Bluewater. They took a short break to reprioritize the Lord in their lives and fully surrender everything to the Lord, and then found their way back to each other. They are so in love with each other and make quite the match. Anyone that knows them knows how well they balance each other out, and always aim to glorify the Lord in all they do.
Hayden and Hannah were in Park Rapids for a bridal shower. A few days prior, Hannah brought up that they should go on a walk after the shower and before the dinner where all of her family would be, so Hayden let her think it was her idea. The day of the shower comes and they leave and go for the walk. Hannah thought her sisters and mom were meeting them there, so she asked why they started walking already. Hayden said it was to scope out the area, so they started walking. Hannah noticed Hayden was starting to shake as she was holding his hand, so she asked if he was okay. He said, "I'm cold, I should have brought a jacket." Hannah laughed a little and turned toward him, and he started to smile and shake his head. He then fully turned towards her, and Hannah asked what he was doing. He got down on his knee and asked if she would marry him, and she began to scream! Eventually she got out the "yes", and then they hugged and she saw her brother in law Chris down at the end of the trail, along with her dad and younger brother Owen. They walked up to them, and she continued to scream and smile uncontrollably. They met her entire family and Hayden's parents at a restaurant and soaked up the moments together. It was perfect!
