It was a case of classic diversion. She went out for drinks under the guise of getting some time with her siblings, while, unbeknownst to her, he arrived at her parent’s house after making the long trip from Pennsylvania. Within the hour after arriving, he worked diligently to set the stage for the momentous night. The back deck, where family members and friends gathered, was lined by the vibrant, yellow daisies. The soft reverberation of the firepit crackling and the strain of her favorite song filled the dark, cool, autumn air outside. As she walked through the house to door leading outside, she was unaware of what was about to happen. Exiting the house and walking on to the back deck, she was still unaware of what was about to happen. She opened the door and saw the mass of people looking at her smiling. She muttered, “oh, was everyone waiting for us?” She was still unaware what was happening. Looking to her left she finally saw him on his knee waiting for her to approach him. She finally became cognizant of what was taking place. Her hands came together at the pinkies and she placed them over her mouth trying to grasp the surreal nature of the moment. Tears began to flow. She walked over to him and he asked for her hand in marriage as his plan came to fruition. Words failing her, she nodded her head vertically and finally managed to say it. “YES!” “All I want is for you to be happy and take this woman and make you my family and finally you have found someone perfect and finally you have found…”
