Hannah’s favorite joke to make is that she picked Cole up from a farm, and it’s the truth! Cole was working at Cuesta College’s farm when Hannah started in February of 2022. Her big personality brought Cole out of his shell, and the two became instantaneous friends. The two had unknowingly crossed paths several times, even sharing classes. Their job entailed pulling weeds together every day, which gave them nothing better to do than talk for hours. Their boss dealt with the dilemma where the two rarely got any work done together, but Hannah wouldn’t work if she was separated from Cole. So despite their declining productivity, the two formed a long-lasting friendship. Two months after their meeting, the couple went on what they now realized was their first date. With the climbing temperatures, the pair went to go swim in the lake where Cole grew up. They went to get pizza after that and Cole drove Hannah back to her car. Somehow (still a mystery to this day) they ended up discussing engagement rings, and Hannah shared with Cole that she has always wanted an emerald. More on that later.... Following the end of the school year, Cole moved back to the Bay Area, and Hannah continued to live in San Luis Obispo until July. Cole bought tickets for them to see Grateful Dead over the summer, and Hannah met him in Santa Cruz for a river day, the day before she moved out of SLO. She had to see Cole one last time before he moved to Colorado. Hannah moved to Davis, CA and when Cole visited her in November, the two silently came to separate realizations that their feelings ran far deeper than just best friends. After the both of them having individual crises about their relationship for several weeks, Cole called Hannah in the first week of December to tell her his feelings. He told her that she didn’t need to give him an answer, but he had developed romantic feelings for her. Shakily, Hannah shared that she had envisioned them spending the rest of their lives together, and that she saw them growing old together in matching rocking chairs (super casual, right?). And that was the beginning of it all. The couple did long distance until June of 2023, when Hannah moved into Cole's apartment in Colorado. Two weeks after the move, they embarked on a road trip to Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho. Nothing to test the strength of a relationship like going from long distance, to being in a car for two weeks straight! Shortly after this event, they moved into their (more spacious) first home together. In August of 2024, Hannah began her soil conservationist position with the USDA-NRCS, and the couple now lives in "middle of nowhere Utah", in their little cottage with a lovely yard, furniture that is older than they are combined, and many "roommate" fermentation projects. Last year, Cole fulfilled Hannah's wish and bought the emerald engagement ring a few miles from where their ring conversation initially occurred. In October of 2024, he got down on one knee and asked Hannah if she would love him for the rest of time. She said yes! Thank you for being a part of this fairytale love story. The couple is honored to have you here.
