Our story began in Charlottesville, Virginia at an intimate wedding celebrating the marriage of my sister, Abby, and Chafer’s best friend, Braxton. We sat across from one another at the reception and spent the whole evening talking and getting to know each other. At that time he was in his final year of law school in Arkansas and I was moving to Washington, DC. It might sound crazy to feel this way after being with someone for only two days, but I left that weekend thinking, “What if?” Fast-forward a couple of months when we are both invited to the beach over Memorial Day weekend in Hilton Head. Almost immediately we were back to talking and spending every moment we could with one another. It was the perfect summer weekend. We rode bikes around the Island, sat on the beach, and fell more “in like” than even the first time we met. When it was time to leave, Chafer asked, “Will you visit me in Arkansas?” Before boarding his flight home he hugged me and said, “We will make time.” A few weeks later, I was on a plane to Fayetteville, Arkansas. Chafer continued to pursue me throughout the Summer and regularly called to check in. When Summer was over, he moved to Los Angeles, California to start a new job after finishing law school. Before he left, he asked, “Will you visit me in California?” I hopped on the first flight possible and we began an 18-month long-distance relationship. We were 3,000 miles away and on opposite sides of the country but our relationship was worth it. We treasured the time we had together and spent the time apart looking forward to the next flight to bring us together. We fell more in love with every trip and couldn’t imagine life without one another. I truly believe that God placed Chafer and I into each other’s lives in His perfect timing. He constantly reminds us how much better our lives are when we are together. We are so excited to be married this Summer and can’t wait to celebrate our “love story” with each of you on our wedding day.
