Our Story

2013 - FOREVER

Ben and Hannah were both freshman at Broken Arrow High School when they first met in the high school's gym. Hannah was on the dance team, so she had to perform at the varsity basketball games. Ben happened to be at one of the games watching with his best friend when he notices Hannah. She was the new girl. Ben knew that night in the gym he had to get to know the new girl and did whatever it took to get her attention. He didn't quite understand being mean to girls was not the way to win her over. He told Hannah she couldn't sit with him and his friends at the lunch table. Like any 14 year old girl does in 2013, Hannah went home that night and made a Vine about the mean boy at lunch. Slowly but surely, they entered sophomore year of high school as a couple! Like every high school sweethearts story, the two had their fair share of ups and downs, but they did manage to go to every high school dance together. High school flew by, and before they knew it, Ben decided to sign to NWOSU to play basketball. Hannah decided to go to OSU with her sister. After a year of long distance, God led Hannah and Ben to the University of Arkansas together! For three years, they spent most weekends calling the hogs, attending Kappa functions, and going to their favorite restaurant for 2 dollar margs, JJ's. Hannah and Ben became a trio with the addition of their dog, Jax, in 2017. These two have quite the love story, and they can't wait to celebrate this journey in October.

The Proposal

September 26, 2020

Ben, Hannah and Jax took a trip to Fayetteville for a friend's birthday. After the birthday, they planned to meet two of their best friends at Ben's family's lake house on Beaver for one last lake weekend. Hannah thought this was going to be like any other lake weekend. They headed to the lake bright and early after their pit stop in Fayetteville. Ben mentioned an early morning boat ride while waiting for their friends, and Hannah obviously agreed. They enjoyed a beautiful morning cruise, listening to their favorite songs, watching Jax swim, and talking about the wonderful weekend they planned to have together. Little did she know this boat ride was a huge distraction from what was really going on in the house up the hill. The Schafer's and Crider's were setting up a surprise engagement party to celebrate when Hannah finally said yes. Hannah's sister, Rachael, and Ben had been planning this surprise for months. Ben told Rachael all of his ideas, and with help from the family, the engagement and surprise party went perfectly! Ben texted his mom when the two got back to the dock so we knew to hide. Everyone waited in the lake house patiently, while Ben got the boat on the slip. Ben started playing “If The World Was Ending" by JP Saxe. All of the sudden he was on one knee, asking Hannah to marry him. Obviously, Hannah said YES! Ben and Hannah finally made the trek back up to the house, only to be surprised by all of their friends and family. Lots of tears and hugs were shared. The best part was Hannah had absolutely no idea... And she came in with a White Claw in her hand and only a swimsuit and sweater on.
