After being in marching band throughout my high school and college career, I still hadn't had enough of it. Almost all of my friends that I had made in life so far had been made through band or music somehow, and it held a special place in my heart. After graduating from UF, I landed a job in Ocala, and a friend hooked me up with a gig teaching percussion at a local high school on the side. It was great. After a couple of years it was too much for just me to handle, so the band director hired another tech - Adam. (Adam will tell you that he was hired to be my boss, but I will deny it to this day.) We learned to work together and became pretty good friends. I even invited him to a Gator football game to see if there was more going on between us, but he seemed oblivious. Several months later I asked him to take me fishing for my birthday, so he did. Apparently I impressed him with my natural talent for the sport and general interest for learning new things, and something sparked. The next couple of weeks consisted of me trying to suppress feelings that he was never going to act on and him trying convince himself to act. Finally he asked, and he made me the most delicious, cheesiest grits and grilled fish for dinner to seal the deal. For the last two years we have continued to teach marching band, are both on our church praise team, and love fishing together whenever possible.
