Hike is about 3 miles round-trip from Speedboat Avenue, and takes roughly 1.5 hours. You'll experience some of the best views of the lake from the top. Pretty steep incline getting there, but 100% with it.
Arguably the best beach on the lake. Enjoy jumping off the rocks and exploring the various rock islands.
Go for the boutique shops, stay for the old-school diners, and don't leaving without picking up Hannah a piece of fudge from the chocolate shop.
Check out Fanny Bridge, so-named because of all the fannies of onlookers you can see as you drive by. Moe's Original BBQ is a great lakeside place for, you guessed it, BBQ, and there's also a small movie theater, if you're feeling some post-wedding downtime. Should you need to buy some Tahoe trinkets, sporting gear or an antique or something, Tahoe City ("TC," if you're a local) is the place to go.
From parking lot to beach, it's about a mile walk. BUT don't stop there--if you continue along the lake for another mile or so, you'll reach the area's legendary nudist beach. I've met the mayor of the nudie beach (and all his bits and bobs) and I can affirm he's one helluva...character. Should you go, take Muddy and Deefer (Hannah's parents' dogs)--they enjoy chasing all the sausages. Rest assured you won't be banished for wearing your bathers at Secret Harbor. The community understands jumping into Tahoe in your bday suit can take easing into.
Count yourself warned--this place is dangerous. You'll get lost inside for hours, and emerge with things you'd only ever dreamed of and probably don't really need. It's a Hannah and Alex rainy day favorite.
Beautiful, flat 4 mile loop over wooden bridges and creeks. If you go, bring two things: a hat and Hannah (it's her preferred running trail).
A quick, scenic hike that's close by. We like it because of the name. Good place to picnic.
Take a tour of the historic Vikingsholm, Tahoe's only castle. Then, swim out to the island to explore, or jump off the dock, or just sit on the beach and bask in the lake's majesty.
~20 min walk down the hill is the town of King's Beach. There, you'll find a public beach, rental shops, restaurants, and other weird, we mean AMAZING, shops. There's also a log cabin restaurant that's been voted best breakfast in Tahoe for many years. You be the judge. The ice cream parlor behind it ain't bad either.
Our second date spot. We've both been to Japan (coincidentally to the same random ski resort) and have high sushi standards, but this is arguably some of the best sushi in the US, or at least far away from the ocean.
